A note from our RE |
Aug 19 , 2010 | ||
Hi everyone! We made it through both days and had a lot of fun. First off thanks to everyone from both clubs that helped put this together. I think we had a great two days. That’s a testament to the quality members that we have in the SNYR and the STCC. Congratulations to Pat Brennan for his two day Fast Time Award. Although Sunday was rainy we still had 40 cars and a fun, safe day. The results are up on the site and there are now 80+ photos. Sorry run group #1, we only were able to get the 2nd and 3rd run groups. If you have photos you want to contribute, mail them off to us and we'll get them on the website. Likewise, these pics are not protected so feel free to download and blow up your favorite photo. There will be an Out Of Region event with the Glen Region at Corning Community College on August 28th. This event will count towards the SNYR championship. See the Glen Region site for details. Our next event is September 5th at the "Shops at Ithaca." This is a nice lot for a smaller site. Open enough to have some fun and smooth. We're also looking at a Road Rally in October. This would be a 1/2 day event to learn and have some fun. I'll keep you posted. Darryl |

Correction.. |
Aug 12 , 2010 | ||
The fees listed for this weekend need to be corrected. Here is the real deal.. If you are a member of either the NCCC or the SCCA, the fee will be $25 per day, or a total $50 for both Saturday and Sunday. If you are not a member of either the NCCC or SCCA, the fee will be $40 for your first day of racing and $25 for the second day, for a total of $65 for both Saturday and Sunday. If you are not a member of either club and only race one day (either Saturday or Sunday) the cost will be $40. R.E. Darryl |

2 DAYS + 2 CLUBS = 4 FUN |
Aug 8 , 2010 | ||
| It's almost time! The big 2 day weekend with the Southern Tier Corvette Club is next weekend August 14th and 15th. We will hold two events that weekend. Saturday's event will be sanctioned by the Southern Tier Corvette Club. We will be running their course design. Sunday will be a SNYR SCCA event. There will be awards for the lowest time over the two days. These will be given out per class as well as a men's and lady's 2 day FTD. The way this is going to work is...... If you're a member of both clubs it will be $25.00 per day. If you are a member of one of the clubs, it will cost you $25.00 for your club day and then $40.00 for the other day. If you are not a member of either club it will also be $40.00 one day for a weekend membership and then $25.00 for the next. Both days will be run under the same time schedule. Registration closes promptly at 10:00am. Do not be late.
Please try to be there for both days as both clubs are hoping this will be an annual event. See you next weekend. R.E. Darryl |

A Note from our RE |
July 15, 2010 | ||
Well we completed another stellar event. 34 entrants, the weather was beautiful and the course was hot. We got 9 runs and were still out by 4:30. Everyone's times were close but it was the two High Horsepower Vettes battling it out for FTD. The results have been posted. I want to thank everyone for their help, smart driving and support. It's all of you that make for a great event. The pictures will be up soon. I'm also going to be sending along a few photos I took from Sunday at the SCCA Nationals at the Glen. Over 300 cars were there. Everything from wild Formula cars, Sports Racers, Vintage Sprites and MG's, to high horse Vettes, Camaros, Ferrari's, Porsche's and even Panoz. There are more Regional events coming so check the Glen region's web site. I can tell you how to sign in as a guest for free, but you must be an SCCA member. SO.....Did I mention we're still leading the nation in Growth and Retention? Check it out on page 14 of this month's Sportscar magazine. I'll have more in the near future, but I can tell you that every member in the region receives some benefits from the SCCA in the form of discounts. This is for those regions that lead in growth and retention. Renew your membership or grab a friend and bring them to our next event. Speaking of our next event.... Details coming soon on our two days of fun with the Southern Tier Corvette Club. Save August 14th and 15th on your calendar. I'm slowly getting a few videos up on my youtube site. Allies was the last video posted. http://www.youtube.com/user/RacrFanNY See you at the races.... Darryl |

A Note from our RE |
June 23, 2010 | ||
Hi All; Thoughts on Sunday.... WOW!. After last year's Father's Day being our lowest attended event we were unsure of how many we would have this year. 46 entrants took time. To all of you I again say THANK YOU. It really makes your SNYR staff happy to see all of you having a great day. That's what I love about SOLO, is about the fun, not the prize. Seeing so many father and son teams also makes for a great day. I've heard from many of you that you enjoy coming to SNYR events. We hope that we can keep them affordable, well run and most of all... Fun. Now for the Thank You's. Thanks to Jason, Jeanne, Brian, Sue, Lizz, Nick, Larry and Rob for putting this all together. Without you all, this wouldn't happen. Thank You to Matthews Auto group of Vestal for their support. I'm sure more than a few of us walked away wishing we were running that R3 RX8 that Mike brought. Please support Matthews, they have been very good to work with in their sponsorship. If your at, or near, the Import Center on Vestal Road, stop into the Mazda showroom and say Hi to Mike McNeal. Hit the Matthews web site and see what they have. Likewise, make sure you get into Carquest in Binghamton or Vestal and take advantage of the SCCA discounts on all of their products. By supporting our sponsors, they will support us. Reserve the 10th (Saturday) of July for our event at the Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). We have never been to this lot before so this will be an experience for all of us. Registration closes promptly at 10:00am. If you have time that weekend, the 9th -11th is the national SCCA club racing event at Watkins Glen speedway. If you are an SCCA member you may get in for free. To do this you MUST GO TO REGISTRATION, and sign into the SCCA window. Check the Glen or Glen region SCCA site for registration booth hours. Going directly to the Gate 2 entrance will not get you into the track without paying. Call me if you need more information. Results from Sunday are posted and pictures will be up soon in the Gallery. See you at the races. Darryl |

Father's Day Event |
June 15 , 2010 | ||
Hi, Important: REGISTRATION CLOSES at 10:00AM. Due to the number of entrants we had at the last event, it is very important that you are there by 10:00am. The earlier the better as we need to register you and tech your car. I would really like to get started by 10:45 if possible. If you're interested in helping out we would love to have you. See you Sunday. Also, Matthews will be there Sunday with a 2010 Mazda RX-8 R3 for display. They may also have a Miata and a used 09 RX-8. Even if you're not racing, stop by, say Hi and take a look. A note from our RE |
April 23, 2010 | ||
To all of our SOLO friends; As we prepare for the 2010 season, I just wanted to take a moment to update you on a few things. We have been hard at work trying to find additional locations. As some of you may know, Broome Community College is no-longer renting out their lots on weekends. With that, we are working on a Saturday event in July at Tompkins Cortland Community College. They have been very open to hosting an event. The only drawback is that we will have to hold our event on a Saturday. Right now we're looking at the 10th or 24th of July. Keep an eye here for future schedule announcements. I also wanted to share with you this web address. http://www.azsolo.com/classes/car_class_worksheet_2008.pdf This is an excellent checklist of the modifications you may make in the various categories. If you're running anything other than a bone stock car, take a moment to see in which category you would fall. You can then follow-up with your car make and model with the SCCA.org site and determine your class. As of the end of March our Region is still in the top three for retention and growth. LETS BE NUMBER 1!. If you're thinking of joining the SCCA, now is a great time. You'll receive the SCCA's Sportscar magazine, a discount on SOLO event registration as well as numerous discounts on car rentals, auto parts distributors, hotel rates, and a whole lot of other services. Join Now. If your already a member now is a great time to bring along a friend. Remember, keep checking this site! Thank You for your support and we'll see you in May. Darryl |

An Update from Our RE |
March 31, 2010 | ||
Greetings; Here is the latest. The bad news is we have lost BCC as a lot. The campus has decided that they are no longer going to rent their lots on weekends. With that, we are down an event. One possible option is to add another Ithaca event on the BCC date. I have two more sites to check on this week. If you have any large smooth lots in your area, please see if you can contact an owner and get us into the lot. The good news is that our region is ranked in the top 3 for small region growth and retention. This is a contest that SCCA runs for the year. Let’s get out there and renew our memberships. If you’re not a member, now is a great time to join. Joining the SCCA is easily done via the SCCA.org site. If you have a friend who is interested, bring him along to our first event. LETS MAKE HISTORY IN THE SNYR REGION! Thank you for the support so-far and stay-tuned for more information. |

2010 Preliminary Season Schedule |
March 4 , 2010 | ||
Greetings Fellow Solo Racers; Our preliminary 2010 season schedule is now on the web site. Just click on “Schedule” at the top of the screen, or on “Full Schedule” under Event Info. The Opening event will be May 23rd at Binghamton University, Lot M. Our second event will also be at BU on Father’s Day, June 20th. Hope to see more father-son competitions this year! The third event is tentatively scheduled for July 18 at BCC. We have not confirmed that one yet, but we’ll keep you posted. On Aug. 15th we’ll be back at BU. This is planned to be a joint event with the Corvette Club and span Sat. and Sun. We will be back at Pyramid Mall in Ithaca for a Labor Day Weekend event on Sept. 5th. In addition to these events, we will likely have an OOR event with the Glen Region and we are planning to have a reunion event for past members. We will continue to update the schedule as event details and additional dates firm up, so KEEP CHECKING THE WEB SITE. In other news, we were at SpeedWorld 2010 this past weekend at the Oakdale Mall. Due to the weather, the show was shortened to Sat. and Sun., and we were only able to put one car in our display. However, we had a good amount of traffic and interest over the two days. A special thanks to SNYR members past and present who stopped by to help out with the display, or to just say hello, and to all those potential members who stopped to find out more about us and about solo racing. We hope to see you all this season. Brian |

| Speedworld 2010 Reminder | Februaury 18 , 2010 | ||
Just a quick reminder, we will be at the Oakdale Mall for the Speedworld 2010 show on February 26-28. Stop by and see us and our display. Also, anyone is welcome to help man the display especially Friday and Saturday evenings. We'll have cars on display and videos from last years events. We'd love to see you. Darryl |

| 2010 season and Speedworld 2010 | Februaury 5 , 2010 | ||
Greetings fellow solo fanatics; We are still hard at work trying to come up with a schedule for 2010. Mark your calendars, we have the Sunday of Labor Day weekend reserved at the Shops at Ithaca. Last year we had great weather and a great event. Let's hope 2010 is just as good. We're still waiting to hear from the SUNY B and BCC campuses. Changes in both administrations have made it more difficult for us to reserve the lots. As soon as we hear, we'll pass it along. With that in mind, if anyone knows of a large lot that we may be able to use please let us know. Finally... We will again be at the Oakdale Mall for the Speedworld 2010 show. Stop by and see us and our display. We'll have two cars on display and videos from last years events. We'd love to see you. Thanks for stopping by our site and we hope to see you at an event in 2010. Darryl |

| Happy New Year! | January 03, 2010 | ||
Well Christmas is over and the new year is here. Time to start thinking about the 2010 season! I know, the temperature is in the teens, the wind chill is below 0, and the ground is covered with snow and ice, but I'm itching for the new season to get started. Since we can't get out there just yet, the web site has been updated with new pictures from the 2009 season. We have compressed the files that were out there, so hopefully they can now be downloaded easier. We've also added pictures from the Ithaca event. Check it out, and let us know if you have any problems viewing them. Brian |

| Ed Zebrowski and family in auto accident | December 19 , 2009 | ||
On Friday evening, December 11, while heading to the Glen Region Awards Banquet, Ed and his family were hit head on by a vehicle that slid or drifted into their lane. Ed and his wife Cheryl suffered minor injuries. His son Dallas suffered internal injuries, and is recovering at Arnot Hospital in Elmira. Ed's mother, Mary Ann, suffered fractured bones and internal injuries and is recovering at Strong Hospital in Rochester. Many of us at SNYR have run at Glen Region events and know Ed as the RE of the Glen Region and a cart racer, and know his son Dallas, who is a junior cart racer. Let's all keep Ed and his family in our thoughts and prayers, and wish them a speedy recovery. One final thought, as Ed has said numerous times since the accident, "be prepared to react to the other guy!" Darryl Lindsay, RE SNYRBrian Balliet, Assistant RE SNYR |

| Year End Party | October 13 , 2009 | ||
Greetings; The 2009 season is almost over! Almost because we still have to have our year end party. This is where we need your help. Having had such a successful season has left us wondering how many are coming to our awards get together. So… Mark your calendars now; Saturday November 7th, 2009. Time: 6:30pm. The location will be somewhere in the Endwell/Endicott/Vestal area. This is where you come in. We need an RSVP so we can determine where we will hold our event. The SNYR Region will be picking up the Pizza, wings and appetizers. Beverages will be on your own. Please make sure you e-mail Brian ( bballiet@stny.rr.com ) or me (lindsaydj@earthlink.net ) as soon as possible so we can find a location. It's almost time for our next event. This Sunday, the 19th, we will be
at Broome Community College in the baseball field lot (lot#4). We
will be there at 07:30 to set up. There is a limited amount of parking
behind the dugouts for about 25 cars. First 25 will get the prime
spots. Don't worry, there is plenty of additional room in the two lots
adjoining the course.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! This is a great lot, but there is a lot of small
fine sand in various areas of the lot. We need to sweep (or blow) the
course as we walk. If you can come early and bring a broom it would be
greatly appreciated.
And lastly... |

Hi All, Now for a few thoughts. Remember, there is always someone around to ride along if you need help. We are all here to have fun. If your struggling, just ask for help. We've all been there before and know that it takes time to improve. Our next points event is the Glen Region's Arnot Mall event this Sunday. Check their web site (www.glenn-scca.org) for times and directions. Our next home event is Sunday June 21st (Dad's day) at Binghamton University in the same lot. Not all of you were sure about the weekend memberships. You may join the SCCA at the web site (www.SCCA.org) and receive a $15.00 membership discount by using the "W" number on the top right corner of your form. If you lost your form just email me (lindsaydj@earthlink.net) and I'll get it to you. If joining by mail, send in the copy of the form. Should you race again before joining you'll receive a second $15.00 discount. $30.00 is the total amount you may take off your membership. THESE DISCOUNTS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR 60 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR WEEKEND EVENT SO DON'T MISS OUT. Lastly, the results from Sunday can be found by clicking the 'Past Results' link on the left. We're still working out a few computer issues, so there are a few "NA's" recorded for times. Your times were recorded via the back-up system (pen and legal pad).I did not have access to them when typing the results. Thanks again for a great day. Watch this site, when we hear about the RacingWorld article we'll post where it may be found.
See you at the races. Darryl |

| Greetings from the SNYR Regional Executive | December 3 , 2008 | ||
Greetings; I hope that all is well this Holiday Season for you, your family and friends. I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on Region 37. My name is Darryl Lindsay. In November, we held our year- end meeting at Bobby's Place in Endwell. After many years of faithful service, Nick has decided to take a break so I am now your Region Executive. Thank You to Nick for his guidance over the past several years. Brian Balliet is the Assistant Region Executive; Nick Brewster is continuing the responsibility of Treasurer and Rob Pingarelli is the Secretary/Membership Chairman. If you're like me, you know people by their cars (it's great being a car junky). For those of you who I have not met, I drove a red Tiburon in H Stock two years ago. My son Steve and I put together a 1985 Red Devil Formula 440 which we ran last year. As your new Region Executive, I wanted to let you know about a few things we are looking at for next year. We are still trying to get into a few new sites but nothing is set as of this time. If you know of, or have access to, a large parking lot that you believe we could utilize please contact one of us. I have verbal commitments from 3 businesses to sponsor our events next year. I think this will bring a little more notoriety to our events. One of those commitments is from one of the large auto dealer groups in our area (announcements to come). With this we may have several new cars on display at one of our events to look at and possible test drive (but unfortunately not on course). Look for us at Race World 2009 at the Oakdale mall in February. We'll have a couple of cars and a display set-up so stop by and say hello. There are several videos from past events on YouTube. Just search SNYR SCCA. We will probably have an organizational meeting in January so don't forget to watch this site for announcements. A special thank you to Sue, Brian and Jason Balliet for all of their work on the website. They have done a wonderful job in updating our web site. May the Holidays be a time of peace and sharing with your family and friends. Oh Yea…don't forget to ask Santa for that SCCA membership. See you at the races. Darryl |

What's done: I have done my best to fix all of the broken links and PHP scripts on the site. Feel free to look around and see what you think. Please report anything that is still broken to me directly at snyrscca@gmail.com. What's not: I have not updated any of the actual data. I haven't gotten to posting run times, events, and things like that. Also, please visit the "links" page and see if you can help me find the correct locations for some of the material that has outdated links (it's marked on the page). Any help would be greatly apreciated! Jason Balliet |
